Our Journey

The Lasallian mission in Rwanda began in 1953, when the Brothers were entrusted with educational responsibilities by the Catholic Church. Since then, De La Salle Rwanda has grown steadily, expanding its educational ministries across different districts.

Saint Jean Baptiste De La Salle founds the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in France.

The Lasallian Brothers arrive in Rwanda, entrusted with educational responsibilities by the Catholic Church. TTC De La Salle Byumba is established.

Following the genocide against the Tutsi, the Brothers recommit to rebuilding education and reconciliation in Rwanda.

1994
2000

De La Salle Rwanda expands its educational works, opening new communities and schools across the country.

De La Salle Rwanda serves over 3,500 children and young people through 7 schools and education centers across 6 Brothers communities.
